Auditory Integration Training
Auditory integration training is another branch of the services offered at the school. Auditory integration training is beneficial for children or adults who have auditory deficits targeting the auditory system offering a gymnastic like treatment to the auditory system.
Often children or adults have difficulties like ADHD, Pervasive developmental disorder, slow processing speed, inability to hear beginning/last sounds in a word, reading, spelling, difficulty in following spoken directions, dyslexia,Central Auditory Processing Disorder and other communication disorders and developmental delays, also Autism. Auditory integration training is shown to improve and eliminate these areas. Distortions in hearing or auditory processing also often contribute to many behavioural/learning disorders.Distortions in hearing can sometimes be a contributing factor resulting in hearing that is disorganized, asymmetrical, hypersensitive, or otherwise abnormal. When the right and left ears perceive sounds in an extremely different way, problems with sound discrimination can occur.
Ait is aimed at changing how the brain processes the input received from the ears.
During AIT , music from a stereo Cd player is sent through a specialized electronic device. The electronic device randomizes and filters the frequencies from the music source and sends these modified sounds into the trainees ears through a set of headphones. The randomized frequencies mobilize and exercise the inner ear and brain. For example ,the sound waves vibrate and exercise the muscles that control the three ossicles (small bones in the middle ear).
Ait requires 20 sessions of 30 minutes 2x per day for 10 consecutive days. Please contact the school to make arrangements for booking of appointments. |
